What have previous clients asked for?
Sometimes it's a unique custom gift for a birthday, anniversary or
graduation, sometimes it's engagement rings and wedding bands and often its a "to me, from me, love me" self purchase. I create many Reimagined Heirlooms® where we use stones from a sentimental heirloom you're not wearing to create a beautiful new favorite piece.
Do you need your own stones?
Definitely not. As a graduate gemologist and a jewelry designer with almost 20 years of experience, I work with ethical, reputable gemstone dealers and I will procure the perfect sustainably-sourced gemstones for your jewelry. On the other hand, sometimes clients bring me stones they brought back from a favorite trip or they have jewelry that is collecting dust in their jewelry box and we use stones from those pieces.
Do you need to be based in the Chicagoland area?
Not at all. I work with clients all over. However, I do love to meet in person if you are within an hour of Chicago
What does the design process look like?
We start by setting up a meeting (either in person or virtually), so I can get to know you and what you would like to have designed. We will talk about your likes and dislikes and how you want to wear your jewelry.
Should I bring anything when we meet?
If you have ideas for you new jewelry, please bring photos or a Pinterest board with designs/ideas you like for inspiration and a budget in mind for your custom piece.
What if I have fine metal (gold or platinum) that's sitting in my jewelry box?
We can sell it and use the trade-in value as credit towards creating your new piece of jewelry. Not sure if it’s 14k, 18k or 22k or even if it’s real at all? Don’t worry - I’ll test it for you and give you an approximate value on the spot!
How many designs will I see?
I'll create 3-5 detailed sketches to gather your feedback as we brainstorm your design. After you approve the final design, your
piece goes into production. I’ll send you photos and keep you involved in the process as it progresses, (CAD renderings, wax, casting, etc.)
What will you get from this high touch process?
We will create the perfect one-of-a-kind piece for you that nobody else has! You are unique and your jewelry should be too!
How much time will it take?
Approximately 8-12 weeks from initial consultation to finished piece.
How much does it cost?
The initial consultation is complimentary. Once we decide to
work together, I'll send you my custom jewelry design contract to sign and I ask for a $1500 non- refundable design fee to get started. From there, when you approve the final design, there is a 50% deposit before we start production. The balance is due upon delivery. Any metal trade-in value is subtracted from the balance. My pieces usually start around $3500.
